Communication and Capacity Development Unit is a State specific Unit for Institutionalizing IEC (Information Education & Communication) and HRD (Human Resource Development) activities. It acts as a catalyst to provide guidance, technical support, motivation and facilitation to the community for implementation of programmes : “Swajaldhara & Total Sanitation Campaign” in water & sanitation sectors.

Government of India supports Communication & Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) in each State for promoting the reforms initiatives introduced in Water Supply & Sanitation sector
Strategy
To coverage the IEC & HRD activities at State level.
Objectives
The main objectives of the CCDU will be:
1. To develop to state specific Information, Education and Communication strategy for reforms initiatives in water and sanitation.
2. To provide capacity development of functionaries at all levels.
Functions
The Unit is to provide IEC / HRD support to the State Water and Sanitation Mission and Districts. The Unit will:
1. rovide HRD / IEC inputs to all the SRP, Swajaldhara and TSC projects in the State.
2. Documentation of successful IEC / HRD initiatives taken (within the State) other States and agencies and dissemination of the same to field functionaries.
