Human Resource Development  (HRD)

134 Block level Co-0rdinator identified (2 persons from each of the 67 Blocks in the   State in 10 Districts).

 Representatives of PRIs, Opinion Leaders, NGOs at panchayat level / village level         



HRD involves a deep concern and initiatives for workforce with in organization or system which increases their knowledge and skill in order to improve the performance of individual and organization. HRD training skill is mandatory to strengthen the capabilities of community. Hence:-

:: In the workshop held in the Directorate of Elementary Education, training facilities in Districts Institute of Educational Trainings (DIETs) and charges payable were finalized.

:: Resource Centers / Training Facilities have been identified and got approved from the Apex Committee of SWSM.

:: Six batches from six districts of Himachal Pradesh (Solan, Sirmour, Mandi, Kullu, Hamirpur and Kangra) consisting of 171 elected members of Panchayats Samities and Zila Parishad were sponsored to Uttranchal Academy of Administration for seeing the best practices adopted by the community under Swajaldhara and Total Sanitation Campaign in the State of Uttranchal.

:: 103 Master Trainers were identified and sent for 14 days specialized training in Uttranchal Academy of Administration, Nainital.

:: Training arrangements in 10 DIETs have been finalized for training of members of PRIs started w.e.f. November, 2006. Total numbers of 8950 members of PRIs are to be trained as per action plan who will act as Resource Persons for awareness generation at district level & panchyat level. 4366 PRIs have been trained up-to March, 2007.

IEC Activities

Awareness through Print and Mass Media:

:: Calendars for the year 2006 conveying the message on Swajaldhara and total Sanitation Campaign printed and distributed up to Panchayat level.

:: Jingles for Broadcast from AIR Shimla, Dharamsala and Hamirpur being aired from July, 2006 onwards

:: Video spots are being telecast from Doordarshan Shimla on prime time (in between the local news) w.e.f. July 2006.

:: Charts depicting do’s and don’ts for distribution to Educational Institutions for awareness generation. On water related issues and Total Sanitation – developed and distributed.

:: Broachers and pamphlets on water related issues have been developed and are being distributed in awareness camps and trainings.

:: Technical Manual for the core group for designing, construction and management of Rural Drinking Water Supply in participatory mode have been developed and being distributed.

:: Training Handout (Course material) for Reforms in Rural Water Supply Sector with participatory approach by community.
